VPL Prizes to be handed over on July 3, Vodacom has announced.

Winners of the various categories in the ended Vodacom Premier League (VPL) are expected to receive their prizes on July 3rd, Vodacom Tanzania has announced.

According to Salum Mwalim, Vodacom's External Affairs Manager, the prize giving day could not be held at an earlier date, because the country's national soccer team, Taifa Stars, was busy preparing for 2014 World Cup Finals in Brazil.
"Most of the players of Taifa Stars belong to the VPL teams. It would only be fair for us to give them enough time to prepare for the World Cup then handover the prizes when they are not occupied," says Mwalim.
Mwalim says that all the necessary preparations have been done and the stage is set to have the prizes handed over to the various winners of the 2012/13 VPL.
"We thank all those that we have worked with in the ended season, including the clubs, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the League Committee, for their patience as we worked to settle on a date to handover the prizes," explains Mwalim, adding that, "This exercise is very critical to us and we always need to conduct is when everything is set and when everyone is ready."
Vodacom has set aside Tsh200 million to award various teams, players, coaches and other officials who stood out during the 2012/13 VPL.
Yanga Football Team, the champions for 2012/13 will walk away with the grand prize of Tsh70 million while the second winner will pocket Tshs35 million and the third winner Tsh25million.
